Kokoro Aikido Budapest
About us
Kokoro Aikido Budapest acts as an Aikido club in the center of Budapest since 2003. Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art founded by Ueshiba Morihei O-Sensei. Our open community's goal is to study and share Aikido on the highest possible level using the most authentic sources available. If you are interested in joining our dojo please contact us and we are happy to answer any of your questions. Information about our sessions can be found here.
Our members are men and women within the age of 10 to 60 who regularly practice together to help each others progress day by day. On our mat you can see Hungarian practice with the foreigner, male with female, young with old, CEO with the blue collar or doctor with the musician. Everyone decides how fast they want to go, we are here to provide the proper conditions for such progress. Join us!
Technical direction
Due to the fact that Aikido's form is living and constantly evolving, we find it important to be in close contact with authentic sources who are actively practicing Aikido and world-renowned, authentic teachers.
As a founder of Aikido Sansuikai Budapest, we are in direct contact with Yoshimitsu Yamada Shihan, a direct student of Aikido's founder Ueshiba Morihei O-Sensei, who provides direct access to teachers like Donovan Waite shihan or Claude Berthiaume shihan.
Yamada Sensei assures our members' professional development and represents us in the Aikikai International Federation.
Yamada Sensei's European disciples are united by Sansuikai Europe, and as a member of this community we are in contact with a number of high-level active teachers. The leader of the dojo and several club members regularly take part in international seminars both at home and abroad to ensure a high standard of education. We believe that learning Aikido never ends, it can only be stopped, but never finished.
Yamada Sensei visits Europe several times a year. His delegates, the shihans of USAF are additionally visiting the continent six or eight times and the Sansuikai Europe shihans have at least one weekend seminar a month. Several of our members regularly join these events, where we also work indirectly to host such masters in Hungary too.
Of course you can find good instructors and enthusiastic practitioners in Hungary too. We have good relationships with several Hungarian clubs and our members are attending each other's events and even regular sessions. In our experience, an enthusiastic, open-minded attitude and time spent effectively on the tatami will help you build new friendships and strengthen existing ones.
